Blessing No. 2: A Great Father

Inspirational.

That's an understatement.

My father is in hospital... colon cancer. Only now do i know how many people love him. Here's a list:

1) An employee of my dad's told her husband that my dad was sick and in hospital. Her husband cried and made prayers for my dad. He said "When i was sick, he remembered me, gave me medicine for me to take. Now he's the one in hospital... I will pray for him". I had to hold back my tears when I heard that.

2) The number of people visiting my father at the hospital, you'd be amazed... even the lorry driver at the factory came to see him. I dunno if the same would happen to me...

3) My cousin told my lil' brother that no less than 5 mosques in Batu Pahat held prayers for his recovery. He also said that my father "is not like most men" - that he would not give less than 50 bucks to the poor whenever he saw one... that half his earnings go to people back at Batu Pahat every month.

4) My cousins made prayers back in Batu Pahat - some even bought traditional medicine for him. I knew for a long time that they treated him like a father... it became clear now...

5) My mother, whom you'd always see nagging at my dad, can be seen crying upon seeing my dad after the operation. she was so scared for him.

my father, let me tell you the things he does that not many people know:
1) When business is bad, he doesn't take his cut of the paycheck at the company. He lives off the company credit card.

2) We have a trading business run by my cousins... although my mom nags about it all the time, he never takes his cut of the profits of that business.

3) You'll never see a sick person pass by him without him giving homeopathy medication. for free.

4) always goes to extremes trying to help my cousins. even if he himself is tired out.

5) When i was small, he used to stay up nights when i was sick. no sleep. and he was the one to stay in the hospital with me when I was warded. And... he was the one who made me who I am today...

6) He keeps a cool head even during the toughest situations.

7) Very tough on his own children. doesn't want them to grow up as trash.

Maybe that's enough... i can't remember all of them... but most of the things he does, he leaves me in awe...

I'll do my best to live up to that... although i'm struggling as it is.
